　　早些年啥玩意赚钱他倒腾啥
　　周福仁天生就是个做生意的材料，因为，他很会“找钱”。上个世纪70年代，大家都很穷。周福仁身边的年轻人都谈不上对象。但是，周福仁却谈上了对象，原因就是因为他脑瓜好使、勤快、会“找钱”，啥挣钱道，他都能找到。其实，当时他“找钱”也并没有什么特别的地方，就是捡柴火往外卖。
　　但是，那个年代，在一堆穷小子中，能找到对象是件一非常了不起的事，于是，大家一起推举周福仁当生产队小队长，好让他带大家一起“找钱”。
　　周福仁非常清楚，自己家乡产粮并不多，靠种地很难赚到钱。但是，家乡却有用不完的矿石。中国最大的菱镁矿就在自己身旁边。那玩意儿卖了可是能赚到钱的。
　　于是，周福仁用村里仅有的两驾马车搞运输，往鞍山拉矿石挣力钱。一年之后，人均收入翻了一番！周福仁的人气越来越高。
　　当拉矿石的马车换成了汽车之后，周福仁又听说盘锦石油勘探局打出了石油，刚出的油都喷到了土坑里。他立即带人奔去，以50元／吨的价格买下一坑坑石油，将油融化提炼之后，再雇车以300元／吨卖给大连叉车厂；刚弄上油，他又了解到家乡的菱镁矿烧成粉，可做建房用的石棉瓦，于是又赶回村里，指挥村民大军进山……
　　完整产业链运作积聚数亿财富
　　上个世纪80年代之后，周福仁做上了石棉瓦生意。他发现，每天都有很多车到鞍山来拉轻烧粉(菱镁矿烧成的粉)做石棉瓦。他简单计算一下之后，承包了大队的两座窑，开始自己烧粉卖。一方面有广阔的市场，一方面自己做瓦的成本也降到最低，两全其美。周福仁说“这是我人生中第一次完整的产业链运作，所以我的瓦总是比别人赚钱多。”

　　1983年，周福仁积累的资本已超过100万元。那一年，30岁的周福仁当选为辽宁省人大代表。
　　菱镁矿用普通方法烧制之后可造石棉瓦，如果继续用焦炭加大火力超高温焙烧，镁粉则会二次结晶变成异常坚硬的镁砂。镁砂可以制成镁砖———一种耐火材料，用于建造炼钢炉和其它高温作业设施。
　　一吨做石棉瓦的轻烧粉最多能卖80元钱；而一吨低档镁砂可卖350元，中档的800元，高档的2000元甚至更高。周福仁的家乡是全球最优质的镁矿产地，周福仁没有理由放弃这个“找钱”的机会。
　　于是，周福仁开始做镁砂，要做就要比别人做得好，周福仁一开始就投资2000多万元上了一套中档镁砂设备。
　　1988年，辽宁海城西洋耐火材料有限公司成立了。随着镁砂行情的一路走高，1995年，西洋公司销售额破天荒地增至5亿元！
　　没有一个产业是只涨不落的。在镁砂行业利润越来越低，竞争越来越激烈之后，周福仁开始寻找一个新的行业，可以让公司利润持续增长。
